This I Promise You

Oh my look at that umbrella! It is very fantastic I think and so so so very loverly. Can you believe I found it at the Goodwill for FIVE dollars. When I first saw it I swear I stood there in the middle of the row in a bit of a dream like state. I really did have to have it because I kept thinking how jealous I would be if someone walked out of the store with it! Noooo! Nightmare! So I bought it. If only I had some idea of what to do with it now…

I would love to do a diy project with these boots (old bottles of paint in the garage here I come!!) and I'm also since cut this jacket and am using the extri fabric for a free people-esc bralette (because they're so darn expensive!) so wish me luck!  I must get to my marine biology homework now so adios! Oh poop and I almost forgot...listen to this track please it really is fantastic and has made my day better about 30,000 times.

Ratio of lips to secrets

Your secrets hide beneath your lips
In crevasses unknown
Your secrets cry in mountains deep
A pain I’ll never know
[By me]

Well would you look at me.  I used a different font.  Crazy I tell you!  Mad!

Tofurkey is gross

I'm not quite so sure what I'm supposed to celebrate more about Thanksgiving; the massacre of the Native Americans or the slaughtering of the Turkey.  I'm sorry I'm sorry!! I'm so dramatic and sarcastic!  I don't want to ruin shmuin your Thanksgiving I just am dramatic and it's hard to control!  So...moving on!  The family is packing up and taking our semi annual trip to our cabin in Big Bear.  I love love love Big Bear.  And despite my brother's claims that there is nothing to do there (it's just because he's cranky his computer doesn't get any service in the great outdoors)...well, I really don't give a hoot.  It smells wonderful.  It feels wonderful.  Also, bonus, my hair looks awesome in the cold, so booyah in the shmooyah!  I think we were supposed to leave early in the morning, but hey, were trying real hard.  See you guys in the later!

A Small Detour

I went outside today!  I explored the world outside of the South Bay! *Applause*
I was really aching to go hiking and I today I pulled Josie out of her house, into the Subaru (but not like a kidnapper) and on the road to Palos Verdes!  The ride, which was originally scheduled for fifteen minutes according to Mapquest (which I hate with a passion), took oh...you know...an hour.  So we got a little lost. But really, what did you expect with me behind the wheel?  I love car trips and yes, even though this one was a bit stressful, Josie and I found our way, on our own, with much success!  The hike was beautiful and our brunch at Goodstuff was even better.  How I love loverly love road trips.
So now I believe is when I show you guys some pictures of myself...lalala!

Yes, I still call my mom 'mommy'.  What can I say?  I just never felt anything else sounded appropriate.  Mommy.  I'll say it loud and proud!
Well as you have probably already guessed this post is about my dearest mother, Penny.  It's her birthday today and last night we all went out to this very cool tapas/tacos restaurant near the beach.  I drew a picture of her for her birthday that I worked (but actually) a lot on.  It probably is and will be my favorite picture of her...ever.  She just looks, quite simply, beautiful. I'm not sure if she knows, but I took it from one of our (many) old photo albums and I have kept it in my windowsill ever since.  The picture does not do justice, of course, to her beautiful aquamarine eyes but ah well, beautiful all the same.  I may resent her at times, but gosh I love my mommy.

Little drops of happy

There is honestly something beautiful about rain.  Rainy days included.  I can't exactly put words to the smell or the taste of these days or why they make me so darn happy.  Put simply, they are beautiful and are of the rare things to be cherished by one living by the beach.

I'm sitting next to my purring cat reading Elsewhere and I'm crying just for the sake of crying.  I just can't seem to stop reading this old favorite book of mine.  And I just can't seem to stop crying.

Wooden Doors

Wooden Doors
By Emily Fogel

Behind closed doors
She is ready to burst
Closed eyes, closed hands
Mahogany, beach wood doors

She cannot hold it in
The knock that is her voice
So she reaches for the knob
And pulls:
Out come her feelings, her fears
Naked and flowing like tree sap tears

My god it's such a dreary, rainy, cloudy, misty day.  Which I love, don't get me wrong, it's actually my favorite kind of weather. But gosh. So darn dreary.  I can just feel winter in my bones, a bit creaky, and the air is brisk and everything around me seems to be rumbling.  And I'm eating a Popsicle to make summer somehow stay but the Popsicle isn't melting the way it did in august and so I've got it all figured out, you see, winter is finally here.

Oh my dear goodness

Lalala I guess I have decided to post every Saturday now. Ah, well...that means the posts are extri special!  Woot woot in the shmoot shmoot!  I apologize for my kookiness, I might have, maybe, possibly (definitely) just watched four episodes of New Girl in a row.  I know what you guys are thinking...my life is so intense.  I'm just so incredibly extroverted its crazy bananas.  Anywhoozls, here's my post!
And for future reference...  I realize that yes, the blog title denotes that there should be more cat related things on this blog but oh whatever in the shmeter, I'll get on it!
