Magic

Harry Potter.  A genie in a bottle.  Houdini.  Magic is a wand.  It is a shining stone.  It is a rabbit in a top hat.  But how do we know whether magic really exists?  If it does exist, where does it hide?  Is it the little girl, too young to speak, gazing up at you with small round eyes and smiling for the very first time?  Or is it that very last touchdown of the football game where everyone stands up, together, to cheer and the world seems to pause just for a second.
For me, magic is not a wand, a shining stone or a rabbit in a top hat.  For me, magic cannot be found, it is simply there.  It is held hands, one young, and one old.  Magic is a smile.  It is a wink and a whisper.  Magic is laughter.  The perception people have of magic is very much altered by movies and tricks.  Abra Kadabra! And just like that we believe magic can only be found in people like Ron, Hermione, and Harry.  Another swish of the wand over the top hat and the rabbit quickly disguises us from the fact that magic can be natural.  Though a smile may not be as exciting as a dove flying from your sleeve or a fight to the death between two notorious wizards, it is something anyone can have, something attainable to both muggles and wizards.  And that fact is just simply magical in itself.
So my apologies to both Harry Potter and Houdini, bunnies in top hats and genies in bottles, but magic is so much more simple than in movies or stories.  Magic is real.
